The Dana Home Foundation 2017 Grant Award Ceremony
Dana Home Foundation Grant Recipients

On May 31, 2017, the Dana Home Foundation awarded two named grants, one to honor former Board member Kevin McGuire and the other in memory of board member Jim Wong. Kevin stepped down from the Board in November 2015 following twenty years of combined service to the Board of the Dana Home Foundation and its predecessor, the Board of The Dana Home of Lexington. In addition to holding the office of President of the Board of The Dana Home of Lexington, Kevin also served on the Finance Committee for many years. Jim served on the Board of The Dana Home of Lexington for many years and on the Board of the Dana Home Foundation. Jim was instrumental in developing the current mission of the Dana Home Foundation.
The Kevin McGuire Family Grant was awarded to the Daoyin Health Society to fund the “Daoyin Health Program for Seniors of Lexington," a program developed by Dr. Jing Liu, which combines the principles of Daoyin and Taiji with medical science to enhance mental and physical health.
The Jim Wong Grant was awarded to ARC of Massachusetts to fund the “Support Seniors with Autism in Lexington Program”, a small-scale pilot program exploring the needs of ten Lexington residents over the age of fifty with autism or similar profiles.

- Boston Center for Independent Living for“Community Living & Participation" - To help provide people with disabilities with the information they need to live independently in the community
- Brookhaven at Lexington for “Lexington Community Wellness Fair” - To fund a wellness fair to connect Lexington seniors with resources that support healthy and active aging
- Cary Memorial Library for “Dana Home Resources for Seniors” - To fund materials and programs for enrichment of senior citizens through the library
- Chinese Bible Church for “English as a Second Languagee" - To support the “English as a Second Language” program, which is a free service, taught by bilingual volunteers for Chinese immigrants, primarily Lexington seniors
- Cooperative Elder Services (CESI) for “Keep On Moving Program" - To fund CESI’s adult day health program.
- Lexington Chamber Music Center for “Outreach Concert Program" - To fund the Outreach Concert Program, which brings Lexington high school chamber players into retirement homes, nursing homes dementia units and hospitals in the Lexington area.
- Minuteman Senior Services for “Healthy Connections in Lexington" - To fund a variety of programs such as the Senior Nutrition Program including Meals on Wheels, congregate dining and nutrition counseling and SHINE health benefits counseling.
- The Nature Connection for “Professional and Family Caregiver Training Sessions" - To fund expansion of sensory stimulation and nature-based therapeutic training programs to Lexington seniors and the disabled.
- The Perkins School for “Thriving with Vision Loss" Program - To support the “Thriving with Vision Loss” program which provides resources for older adults with vision loss in Lexington.
- Power of Flowers for “The Power of Flowers Project" - To fund a marketing consultant to develop a foundation plan and marketing materials for the Power of Flowers Project.
- Supportive Living, Inc. for “A-3 Fitness Program" - To engage a small group of individuals over the age of 70 and those living with chronic brain injury in an assisted, accessible and affordable fitness program.
- Town of Lexington Human Services for “Lex Eat Together Pilot Transportation Project” and “Senior Outreach & Wellness Services" - To fund a pilot “point to point” rider program to and from Lex Eat Together dinners; and to fund continuing services provided by a volunteer coordinator and registered dietician and no cost taxi rides for low income senior residents of Lexington.
- Town of Lexington Recreation Department for “Forever Fit Wellness Program" - To support the “Forever Fit Wellness Program” which is designed to address the physical fitness and wellness needs of Lexington seniors.
